Valhalla Insights | Direct Primary Care and Employer Clinics

Last month, we hosted a Valhalla Insights session on Direct Primary Care (DPC) and Employer Clinics — and one theme came through clearly:

The system isn’t just expensive. It’s misaligned.

Employer-sponsored healthcare remains the backbone of coverage in the U.S., yet costs continue to rise while access and outcomes often lag. As one participant framed it, we are facing a “timing crisis” — where dollars are spent too late, in the wrong places, and without a strong foundation in primary care.

The panelists suggested that benefits to patients and employers from these care-delivery innovations include:

  • Employees gain same-day access to care, longer visits, and zero co-pays in many cases
  • Employers gain cost stability and transparency
  • Clinicians regain time to practice medicine the right way

One example stood out from Dr. Dana: a potential ER visit costing $10,000–$20,000 was avoided through rapid access to coordinated care and a $1,000 diagnostic pathway.
